MOSAIC 2011: May 21st Festival Park 2pm – 8pm

The 2011 Second Annual Mosaic Festival will be celebrating diversity with live music and food in downtown Greensboro on  Saturday, May 21, 2011 from 2pm-8pm!

Plans are well underway for Greensboro’s 2nd Mosaic Festival, held annually in honor of World Refugee Day to celebrate the rich diversity of the Triad with international music and food.

Boasting more than 150 languages, Greensboro, NC has long been one of the most diverse cities of its size in the south. In a long standing tradition of hospitality, Greensboro has become  home to generations of North Carolinians from across the globe, including more than 10,000 refugees. The rich legacy of diversity and culture that refugees and immigrants bring to the Triad help to make it the unique and vibrant community we are proud to call home.

In its first year, more than 1,000 people joined the celebration in Festival Park for Mosaic Festival, enjoying our city’s cultural diversity with live music and dance performances from around the globe. Festival goers sampled ethnic street foods from places like Bhutan, Iraq, Nigeria, and Burma while browsing local crafts and clothing.

This year’s festival will take place earlier in the year to take advantage of the beautiful late spring weather and will be even bigger (more food!) and longer (more music!) than last year’s event.

Individuals or groups interested in becoming vendors or performers please contact us early as slots fill up. Those interested in volunteering at this year’s event  - we’ve got plenty of work to go around!. Take a look around our new site for more information.
